Bristol Launch of Feet of Green at Queen Square Dining Rooms Draws Schools and Business Together

March 7, 2008 | Filed Under Education, Pre Expedition |

3rd March saw over 70 business people, school teachers and children come together for the Bristol based launch of Feet of Green.
The event was kindly hosted by Queen Square Dining Rooms where the Feet of Green team made a presentation describing how the vision for Feet of Green had been born out of the collaboration of Alan, Peter and Richard with the aim of becoming the largest educationally focused expedition out of the UK.

Peter Kitson from the sponsor Great British Mobility Group spoke about why his business is supporting Feet of Green, suggesting that it is the responsibility of the older generation to leave a sound environmental legacy for the younger generation.

Richard Hale said of the evening: “It was tremendous to see such a diverse and enthusiastic group of supporters come to the launch. Part of the ethos of Feet of Green is to link schools and businesses around the environmental theme and I was delighted to hear so many great questions from the school children about the expedition. We will be continuing to forge links with schools in the area with presentations and collaborative projects and this will be inclusive of the state and independent sectors at primary and secondary levels.”

The event was attended by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Royston Griffey and children and teachers from. Colston’s Girls School, Clifton College, Shirehampton Primary, Bristol Brunel Academy and Keynsham Rugby Club. The event has received strong press coverage including a 2 page spread in the Bristol Evening Post on 5th March – a copy of which is included in the press section of this website. Further photographs from the launch are shown in the Gallery section, courtesy of Nick Waugh.
