Cine Kids Watershed Bristol Watch The Little Polar Bear and Learn about Feet of Green
May 17, 2008 | Filed Under Education |
17th May saw the screening for children at Bristol’s Watershed centre the film The Litte Polar Bear. Based on the famous children’s books by Dutch author Hans de Beer, the story follows a polar bear named Lars who travels home after many adventures to find that the fish have nearly disappeared from the hunting grounds of the seals as humans have moved in. When his friends and family are taken, Lars attempts to free them and save his world from destruction.
Following the screening, children heard from Richard Hale about out how real Arctic Animals’ habitats are changing and learnt about the Feet of Green expedition including a personalised video report sent from the ice by Alan and Peter. The children and some of their parents and grand parents tasted the reydrated food which is the main diet for the adventurers. Some are pictured below. Schools are encouraged to engage with the initiative via the website. Peter and Alan will be back presenting to the public at the Festival of Nature on the waterfront at Bristol on Sunday 8th June 12.15-1.00 pm.

a most interesting afternoon, seeing someone actually involved in a worthwhile projest, plus seeing actual items of clothing, and tasting the food. Thepeppery hot after-taste must be very warming to the ‘tum’ and it was full of nutritous things.jp
