Co-ordinates: 66° 00′ 000″ N - 41° 00′ 000″ W
Report taken at 2145.
31 km completed.
It has been a great day in terms of progress and there are 107 km to for Alan and Peter to reach the sea ice from where they will be collected by boat and taken to a helicopter in order to move off the the ice and begin their return.
They are both in great spirits and were cracking jokes, but realise they have a tough race now to reach the sea ice by 25th. This is key for them to be able to make their connections, otherwise they may have to wait several days on the sea ice. They believe they can do it, but know it will be a challenge.
There is a possibility they will be taken on a boat for the first leg of the journey by the Inuits who were at Dye 2 with the huskies as they were leaving. They hope to find out about this tomorrow. If this does not work then we will be arranging a collection for which we need to give 48 hours notice.
I reported to Alan and Peter that we have have some great links with the Scouting Association emerging, particularly relevant given Peter’s role as a Scout Leader.
