    Hi Alan and Peter
Hope you’re having a good time. You look very tired after pulling those big sledges. How are you feeling?
Is it very hard to put the tent up in the snow? What food are you missing the most?
I loved it when you came to speak to us in Monmouth - hope you’ll come back to see us after the trip.
    William

I have spoken with Alan and Peter and can give some of the answers to your questions. They have had some very hard days where they felt so exhausted that putting up the tent in the snow at the end of a very hard day walking uphill through snow storms, meant that it took two hours to put up the tent - whereas when they put it up in the garden at home it takes about 20 minutes. It is hard to do anything in the ice cold temperatures of the Arctic. They have also found the wind battering them head on very hard to deal with. They do hope to go back to Monmouth to meet the children some time. Also they will be speaking at the Festival of Nature just after they get back in Bristol on Sunday June 8th 12.15-1.00 pm - why don’t you come along and I will fix for you to come and chat to Alan and Peter? Tell your friends and teachers to log on and ask some questions too.

I hope you had a nice time and haven’t had any frostbite. Staying in a tent in the snow must be so cold.
I hope there wont be any snowstorms.
I hope you’ve been walking far in Greenland…. I hope you have a nice time walking back.
    Do your feet hurt?
    Iwan

Hi Iwan - thanks for your questions… I have been speaking to Alan and Peter and you can listen to them on some of the Ice Logs where there are recordings of our messages. There have already been some snow storms - have you seen the video? It lifted the tent up and Alan and Peter had to go out in the freezing cold and build a new ice wall to protect the tent in the middle of the night. I know Alan and Peter’s feet do hurt but they are not injured - Peter told me that when the angle of the hill changes they know it because a different part of their feet hurts. They will get to the top of the hill in about 2 days then they go along the top and come down the other side of the country. Do you think you might go on an expedition one day? Tell all your friends to have a look on the website and ask some questions.

This is legendary stuff Pete, you look more like Bruce Willis in Die Hard everyday. The video clips are really amazing, I have never seen anything like this before. What your doing is really inspiring. You have got Freya wanting to get out and do something.
    All my best.
    Safe return.

    Hi fellas
Good to see you seem to be making good progress, keep up the good work.
It isn’t ‘alf quiet at Flybe at the moment, nobody to teach us to do things, oh yes, and tell us all about your adventures. All the lads wish you well, stay safe!!

  11. Tash and Nick Burstow May 18, 2008 9:38 pm

    Hi Pete.
After the family grapevine worked its way to Plymouth (!!!!), we have been watching your progress and are really pleased to see and hear that you are doing OK. All that frozen snow… freezing wind… dangerous crevasses… What an opportunity :-)
The only words of advice we can offer are “Don’t eat yellow snow!”
Good luck for the rest of your trip.
    Take care
    Nick and Tash Burstow xx

    Hi Pete,
doing good mate, keep going. I have just been showing Denise all of this on the website so she can show her kids in Honiton Primary. They are year 6 so will be very impressed, as we all are.

Face fungus (beard)… looks good but if you keep it on your return it will look like your heads upside down!!

Keep going mate, there are a few pints waiting for you in The London Inn on your return.

Best regards and keep safe , Chris E
